St. Jude Floor Signing

Last week in Rice Hope, Village Park Homes reached another milestone in our 2019 Savannah St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway Campaign, the Floor Signing. All profits from this Dream Home Giveaway raffle contest go directly to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The turnout for this event was a full-blown success; team leaders and members of our industry partners, volunteers and their supportive family members surrounded us.

After gathering in the soon to be finalized Living Room, chatting over pizza and drinks, we began our series of speeches with Richard Schwartz, the President and COO of Village Park Homes. Schwartz reminded us of the meaning of our mission and, at the core, why we are all choosing to build a home for a cause where the mission is to treat and defeat pediatric cancer. Along with thanking our donors, he expressed gratitude for his VPH team.

The follow-up speeches were given by Paul Lerner of Bald Eagle Partners who donated the homesite, Matt Harden our Construction Manager, Garret Fricks a Shaw Flooring Representative, and Kristin Langona with St. Jude.

Matt Harden, our construction manager, reminded us all that in the 1950s, the survival rate for patients at St. Jude suffering from childhood cancer was 20 percent and today is over 80 percent. Our National Sponsor, Shaw Flooring, had their regional representative speak about why they choose to be involved in this charity every year, a heartfelt moment as the speaker mentioned his wife’s career as a pediatric oncologist. The gravity of this campaign weighed heavier on us all as the day progressed.

During every St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway Floor Signing event, all donors and volunteers ‘christen’ the home with signatures on the cement slab that will soon be covered with flooring, writing notes of best wishes to the future Dream Home winner.

It is our hope that this 4 Bedroom, 4.5 Bathroom, 3800+ sq. ft. home will be given to a deserving winner! All of our participants in this campaign know the meaning and impact we have on changing the lives of children. Our mission is to raise $675,000 to give directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and after selling out on our 2018 Dream Home Campaignin Richmond Hill, GA we are hoping to have the same amount of support and turnout this year in Port Wentworth, Georgia.

Leslie Ehlers, our Marketing Director, spoke to Ben Senger at WSAV3 about all of the interior design work that will soon be installed in the Dream Home.

  • Expansive kitchen with center island, gourmet Bosch® appliances, built-in coffee maker, adjacent wet bar with wine chiller.

  • Deluxe Master Bath with freestanding soaking tub and frameless glass shower.

BACA Ready Mix Donating Towards the St. Jude Dream Home!

Business owner and Dream Home veteran, Miguel Baca, continues to provide quality concrete services to the Savannah region and we are grateful to have him as a major donor on our mission to build a St. Jude Dream Home. BACA Ready Mix will be providing all of our concrete work, which includes slab, leveling, driveway, sidewalks, and porches.

Miguel Baca noted in a recent interview that his brother, Everardo, was the
first in his family to begin this line of work while living in Atlanta. Miguel moved to the city and learned about the concrete industry alongside him. Later, in 2012, Miguel moved to Savannah to work with his younger brother, Pedro, where the two branded their company ‘BACA Ready Mix’, which is now being run by Miguel and Everardo. They attribute their success to their goal of developing their high quality services and desire for growth.

“Finding success is always hard but thanks to God we are coming to it, thank you to all.”

Miguel opened up about how for years at a time he contributed twenty dollars to St. Jude monthly because he feels blessed for his years spent here in the US and at the least, he can try to help others. His donations to our Dream Home campaign, where all profits from the raffle contest go directly to St. Jude, is another expression of his gratitude.

BACA Ready Mix, many thanks for all of your hard work!

You can reach Miguel Baca at 912-856-2566. They offer quality concrete services and would love to help you with your next project.

Premier Exteriors LLC Donates Vinyl Siding and Stone

Well known exterior designers and businessmen in the Lowcountry, Justin Harvey and Chris Dalzell, contributed the vinyl siding and stone to Village Park Homes’ St. Jude Dream Home, which is currently being built in Rice Hope in Port Wentworth, Georgia.

In a recent interview, Harvey said that he chose to be a part of the 2019 Savannah St. Jude Dream Home campaign because it is truly a great cause considering families do not have to pay for travel, treatment, housing, or food. “Giving back is a big part of what we do along with our other core principles.” Without a doubt, he wanted to contribute money to St. Jude.

Premier Exteriors LLC can be known for its mission, which is to empower people “to perform and provide unmatched quality and reliable service.” Harvey attests that what may separate his and his partner’s company from its competitors is its management team. They are often known for having a great process in estimating pricing and applying this method towards the final exterior design process. Along with that, Harvey who received a business degree specializing in marketing, swears by his six core values: fiscal responsibility, intentional relationships, live by principle, quality, accountability, and schedule.

Harvey began Premier Exteriors LLC in 2008 in Bluffton, South Carolina in an upstairs Bonus Room. He currently has twenty-four men and women working for him in his three locations, Bluffton, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach. Along with providing services in supplying stucco, siding, brick, and stone, Premier Exteriors is now offering EIFS and Nichiha Panels. Premier Exteriors has shown to only multiply in its successes over the years.

Village Park Homes is honored to have such a well-run, levelheaded company and management team working alongside us towards this mission to cure pediatric cancer! Village Park Homes is grateful for Premier Exterior LLC’s donations!

Island Improvements Donating Towards the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway!

Phil Nold, Director of Sales and Design at Island Improvements, opened up about their involvement in helping Village Park Homes build the 2018 St. Jude Dream Home in Richmond Hill, Georgia saying “other than the fact that it is the greatest cause on earth, we are business partners with Village Park Homes and we want to do our part with helping in any way that we can along with helping sick children get better.” But Nold is also a cancer survivor and knows that any time you are trying to do research for cancer, especially with children, it is a great cause.

For our 2019 Dream Home, Island Improvement’s involvement is quite different. This company that is participating for all of the right reasons will not only be donating cabinetry like last year, but is giving countertops and hardware as well. When speaking with co-owner Michelle Bergman, she commented that they were eager to do all of the services needed for the 2018 Dream Home, but saw the jobs were being split amongst other local vendors. When asked about donating all of their supplies for the 2019 Dream Home, again, it was an immediate ‘yes’.

Island Improvements has been running for about twenty-three years now with its co-owners, Marc and Michelle Bergman (Michelle often called Mimi). Beginning solely as a maintenance company, the Bergman’s later added a construction division. Phil Nold joined their team 14 years ago and around this time Island Improvements expanded onto the focus of kitchen, bath, and cabinetry design. This is when they opened The Showroom including cabinetry, granite, quartz, tile, and much more for their clients to view during the home design process.

“The business model is a one-stop shop atmosphere where clients can come to our Showroom and get all the design work done.”

Moving forward, Island Improvements is always trying to stay current with trends so they can supply their customers with the best possible designs. They can often be recognized as having “quality product, good service, and modern ideas.” Village Park Homes is extremely excited and honored to have Island Improvements as an industry partner in this undertaking.

Tickets to win this 2019 Savannah St. Jude Dream Home located in Rice Hope, our 4 bedroom Liberty model, will officially be on sale, April 8, 2019 and the winning ticket will be pulled on live television June 26, 2019.

St. Jude Dream Home Groundbreaking 2019

January 10, 2019, we officially ‘broke ground’ on our 2019 St. Jude Dream Home project in Rice Hope. The event in Port Wentworth, Georgia was an absolute success. We received an incredible amount of support from our industry partners and were honored to have members from the city of Port Wentworth join us. A St. Jude representative let us know it was one of the best attendances they had ever seen since working for St. Jude.

We heard memorable speeches from many who are involved in this process. Speakers included: Trisha Growe, the president of the Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce, Kendall Jordan, Savannah Regional Development Representative for St. Jude, Matt Harden, Village Park Homes Construction Manager, and more.

Ben Senger of WSAV 3 News broadcasted our event live and interviewed Paul Larner of Bald Eagle Partners, who stated, “Rice Hope is a marvelous community on a number of fronts. It includes a number of different neighborhoods and price points. It began as a new urbanism community with alley loaded lots, which the Dream Home will be built on. [Bald Eagle Partners] has a fabulous location [at Rice Hope] and we are probably best known for our amenities center, which is frankly a waterpark with a waterslide, a lazy river, and two large pools, a new school in the community, and the new Publix anchored shopping center. We feel like we provide a lot of attractive features to our residents.”

Lerner later said, “St. Jude approached me via the builder and I was overwhelmed with their commitment to their cause, their enthusiasm for this charity, the good works they do, and I decided very quickly that we’d like to contribute a [home] lot so we purchased one and made the donation and we’re looking forward to a fabulous fundraising event and an opportunity for more people in Savannah to get to know Rice Hope.”

The groundbreaking showed promise for the support we will be receiving along this journey! The live raffle drawing for this fundraiser will be on June 26, 2019.

2019 Savannah, GA St Jude Dream Home Kickoff-Bricks and Sticks Event

Our Bricks and Sticks vendor commitment event for the 2019 Savannah area St. Jude Dream Home Campaign was a resounding success! With the help of the wonderful staff from St Jude, we hosted an inspired gathering of generous vendor partners who’ve, once again, committed their valuable time, unrivaled talent, and construction materials needed to have another successful Dream Home campaign.

The presentation to our vendors and industry partners included speeches from our Marketing Director, CEO, COO, and Construction Manager. We talked about both our mission and recent visit to the St Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Employees of Village Park Homes were able to see patients’ artwork, engage in more conversations with the St. Jude family, and learn about where every single dollar goes towards in order to assure the best possible treatment.

Many were shedding tears during these speeches and showed compassion for this cause. It is quite incredible that St Jude has been able to increase the survival rate of their patients from less than 20% to more than 80%. This incredible organization works hard to ensure that families will never pay a bill for treatment, travel, housing, and food. “All they should worry about is helping their child live.”

Island Improvements is one of our returning vendors who showed compassion and promised donations for our 2019 Dream Home. Phil Nold, Director of Sales and Design at Island Improvements, said in an interview with us, “other than the fact that it is the greatest cause on earth, we are business partners with Village Park Homes and we want to do our part with helping in any way that we can along with helping sick children get better.”

Village Park Homes is extremely grateful for all the efforts from St. Jude, our employees, and our industry partners. To receive the caring feedback and promises of donations from you all was incredible. We promise all we do on this journey to build our 2019 St. Jude Dream Home in Rice Hope will be rewarding as 100% of the proceeds of this raffle competition go towards the fight to treat and defeat pediatric cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
